The straight skirt, with knee length or above-the-knee hemline, is incredibly easy to sew. The flared skirt, with knee length or midi hemline, is cut on the bias for a flowing silhouette. Add the optional patch pockets or elegant sash. With straight stitching, an elasticated waistline, and easy-to-follow instructions, this is a perfect pattern for beginners... or a satisfying one hour project for more experienced stitchers!

Skill level: Beginners

Fabric suggestions: Straight skirt – Medium-weight woven fabrics, such as cotton, chambray, double gauze, linen, lighter weight denim and needlecord. Flared skirt – Light- to medium-weight drapey fabrics, such as cotton lawn, chambray, viscose (rayon), silk or polyester crêpe de chine. Avoid anything slippery if you’re a beginner!
