A soft but hardwearing and durable John Louden cotton canvas fabric available in a range of colours. This fabric is naturally water resistant due to the way it is woven. Canvas is highly versatile and is suitable for dressmaking projects such as jackets, dresses, trousers, aprons and is commonly used for bag making and upholstery uses.

Made a crossbody bag with this fabric. Love it! The black color goes with everything, and I use it all the time. I can also choose small pockets or inner compartments based on my needs, which makes it very practical.
This is gorgeous fabric and very easy to work with. I made a set of aprons for the staff at Lazy Hare Farm Shop in Sampford Peverell. Each apron was machine embroidered and I was very pleased with the results.
An example of the perils of not ordering a sample first. It is much lighter (in weight) and less structured than cotton canvas sourced elsewhere. In fact I had already rejected it in my local shop. The fraying caused issues with the working trousers I had intended to make. They won't last.
Also, isn't it meant to be called Delft blue, after the town in Holland where that colour originated in the pottery?
Whilst the fabric itself is a lovely texture and a dream to sew with, the dark brown looks nothing like the colour on the screen and has a very reddish tint.. wouldn't have ordered if I knew this! But, it has worked out nicely as the project looks fine. The colour is very different though - I don't mean a little difference in colour I mean it looks like the *wrong* colour. Never had any issues with poundfabrics before so maybe this is a one off. I'd washed and started my project before I realised how different the colour is. Turned out beautiful and sewed a dream though so fair enough!
Lovely fabric to work with. Only problem is it can fray. Colours as shown on the website and the webbing is strong, but again, can fray easily, so oversew it at the end.
Lovely fabric. Only thing I’d recommend is to order a little more than you need. Most of the time you get a few centimetres more than you order but a couple of times now I’ve got bang on my order which is fine except if it’s not cut straight it can leave you short when you’ve got to cut on the straight grain.
Wanted to have a frayed edge look but with some structure for the bones on this halloween costume. I used some medium interfacing and hand sewed all the bones on. The fraying has just the texture I wanted but not too much that it is ruined in the washer. Easy to work with and sew, highly recommend!
Fabric washes amazingly and line drys fast, sewing was super easy and enjoyable. I found it frayed rather easy but an overlocking stitch sorts it out fine. Absolutely loved making the boiler suit and hat and i know my kid adores it too :)
