I bought very good quality felted dark green wool to make a skirt and jacket for the 17th century. The wool was very reasonably priced and arrived promptly. In this picture, I should have tugged the jacket higher - the back looks a bit saggy, but the wool holds the cartridge pleats at the shoulders and waist really well.

Made this navy jacket with a wool blend fabric and paisley lining (burgundy on blue) as a test piece for a sewing class. They used the same fabric in different colours. It was lovely fabric to work with. I made the SA Genevieve coat and I'm really pleased with it. The only difficulty was that was almost impossible to tell the wrong side from the right side which maid complicated placing of pieces fraught with the danger of getting them back to front.

I have used it before, in green and brown, for medieval livery coats that have stood the test of battle and daily wear in the field (LARP-live action role play).
